Stephenie Meyer's 'The Host' gets new director

Susannah White has been announced as the new director for the book-to-film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's "The Host"

Taken from variety.com;
"Nick Wechsler will produce the indie through his eponymous banner, along with Chockstone Pictures' Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz."
Andrew Niccol (The Truman ShowGattaca), who has written the adapted screenplay for the film, was long presumed to be the shoe-in for director of The Host. However, he's got a couple of other new projects in the works now that may have changed these plans (namely, Dali & I: The Surreal Story and The City That Sailed).

Susannah White has experience directing both television and films, with such work under her belt as Nanny McPhee ReturnsGeneration Kill (in which Kellan Lutz starred in), The Diary Of A Nobody, and Jane Eyre.
The Host's IMDb page shows the following tagline for the picture:
"One soul, the Wanderer, is fused with a dying human named Melanie Stryder, in an attempt to locate the last pocket of surviving humans on Earth."

Castmembers for the film have yet to be announced.

Back in September, 2009, when the news of The Host's movie future came around, Stephenie Meyer stated that the "ideal" direction for The Host would be a "character driven science fiction."
It certainly seems to be shaping up that way!

Keira Knightley will NOT be in “Cosmopolis” with Robert Pattinson

Taken from upandcomers.net:

"Keira Knightley will not be appearing in David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis”, the actress’s reps confirmed to us today.

Knightley was brought into the casting conversation following some eagle-eyed fans seeing her name listed alongside star Robert Pattinson’s on the production company’s website. When the internet exploded with the news, her name was quickly removed and her reps declined to comment on her involvement until today, with a solid “she’s not in it”.

Knightley is currently on the West End stage in a production of “The Children’s Hour”, in which she plays a 1930s schoolteacher who is accused of having a lesbian love affair with a fellow faculty member. She was last seen in the criminally underrated “Never Let Me Go” with Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield and will next be seen on screen in “A Dangerous Method”, another Cronenberg directorial feature.

As for “Cosmopolis”, with a projected start date in May, presumably the search is on for the next Mrs. Packer."
