The Joy Formidable, whose song “Endtapes” is the first song on the Breaking Dawn, Part 1, soundtrack, will be appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman on October 6th. In addition, the band is kicking off a UK tour, and will also be touring with Foo Fighters later this fall. Lots of news, so here’s all the scoop, straight from the band.
Welsh rock trio The Joy Formidable follow a summer of stand-out festival performances across the globe with a performance on CBS’ The Late Show With David Letterman on Thursday, October 6. The band will then hit the road for a UK tour that begins October 13 in Birmingham, and ends at the Cardiff SWN Festival on October 21.
The band also have recorded a new song, “Endtapes,” which will appear as the opening track on the upcoming release The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, available in stores and at all online retailers on Nov 8th.
Following the Letterman appearance and UK dates, the band will tour with The Foo Fighters in November, opening a string of shows in the Northeast that includes a performance at Madison Square Garden in New York on November 13. The Foo Fighters invited The Joy Formidable to tour with them shortly after Dave Grohl posted a tweet to the Foo Fighter’s twitter account in April saying: “I would like to personally thank The Joy Formidable for writing the song of the year, ‘Whirring.’ Xxx Dave.” Full tour dates are listed below.
The Joy Formidable are also proud to announce a new release on October 18. The Big More is a digital accompaniment to the band’s debut album, The Big Roar and features exclusive new tracks and a remix alongside lead track ‘Cradle’. The EP contains a Fang Island remix of ‘Cradle’, a live version of ‘Whirring’ from the band’s sold out Koko show, new track ‘Anemone’ and a cover of the Roy Orbison classic ‘It’s Over’, chosen by fans via a poll on the band’s website.
